Due to its favorable geographical location, Azerbaijan has always been in the crossroads of cultures. This in return has always affected our local cuisine. At the same time, Azerbaijan has 9 out of 11 climate zones that provide suitable lands to grow different types of fruits and vegetables in the country. This cuisine is not only rich with delicious food variations, but also with sweets. Therefore, different parts of the country have its different food and dessert styles and tastes. The main intention of this tour is to deep dive into our culture and cuisine and provide you with an exquisite cooking class.
Tour departs from the exit of Sahil metro station. Your guide will have a badge with their name and Baku Tours logo on it. See the image for the exact meeting point: http://bit.ly/SahilMeet. If you’d like a hotel pickup, please choose “Hotel Pickup” option in extras and specify your accommodation address during checkout.
We will go to cozy apartment in the suburban area of Baku. Please be ready to climb up to the 7th floor by walk, as there is no elevator in the building. Before the tour starts we will go to grocery shopping and then head out to chef Leman's house. Before we get to cooking, we will prepare the dough for the dessert, let it rest in the fridge and START cooking! Depending on your preferences, we will have two menu options - either meat or vegetarian dolma as an entrée meal. Then we will start preparing salads and “kompot” drink. After we take dough out of the fridge, we will start baking it. While it’s baking, we will start our dinner.
- During our cooking class at chef's apartment, guests will be introduced to a new kind of cuisine.
- Guests will be introduced to two different kinds of menu: either traditional dolma with beetroot salad or vegan style bell pepper dolma and beetroot salad. Choices will be up to the guests and local fruit drink called “kompot” will be served in both options.
- After the main course we will sit for tea table for delights and “kete-mutaki” (Azerbaijani dessert).
- Participating on this tour, you will have opportunity to acquaint yourself with secrets of local cuisine and culture from first-hand with our chef Leman.
