Tour’s Program

You will meet with your tour guide at Sahil metro station. In the beginning of the tour we will utilize public bus for reaching Gobustan district. From there we'll take a private taxi to reach Gobustan National Reserve. Gobustan geographical region is situated in the west-south of Baku. The meaning of the word «Gobustan» is derived from two words «gobu» – «ravine» and «stan»- «place», i.e. ravine area. The word «gobu» is also of Turkic origin and means «a dried up river valley».
The tour will start off from Gobustan Museum where you will see ancient human bones, work tools used in back to thousand years ago during the Mesolithic period. Then, you will advance to the mountain in order to see real rock paintings in the open air museum. Later on the tour will continue to the Mud Volcano which is not far from Gobustan National Museum. Azerbaijan keeps the first place in the world for the number of mud volcanoes. About 300 mud volcanoes are to be found in Azerbaijan – at the shore, in the sea and on islands. During this trip you will get a great chance to see these amazing active volcanoes from very close distance. Your tour will end in the same location where it has started.

    "liked it"
The tour was well-planned and a good value. My guide was prompt, polite, and enthusiastic about his job. The combination of price point and still getting to cover three major sites made it very very unique. I was pleased with the tour overall.

    "Incredible value, beautiful scenery"
This tour represents incredible value. The carvings date back 12000 years and Qobustan is probably the most remote place I have ever visited. Our guide Sabina talked about the carvings in great great detail. The mud volcanoes are very interesting and it was fascinating to learn why they erupt. I reccomend this tour to anyone interested in ancient History and breathtaking scenery.

  • "Just what I needed"
I was in Azerbaijan for work and in my day off I took the tour to the mud volcanoes and Qobustan. It was only another guy and me with the guide and the taxi driver. When I booked I wasn't sure at at first about public transportation and meeting in the metro (that's why I decided to choose paying at the end of the tour, which was totally cool and the guide never mention money until we were back. Also I emailed them with some questions about the meeting point as making the reservation was too easy and they answered right away with all the details I needed), but it was just as if he was any regular driver and having such a small group made it more personal and flexible. The guide was young but very knowledgeable, he was nice and gave us space to enjoy the tour without being too pushy and he pleased me with every picture I aked. It was easy, cheap and just what I needed for some time off work. Definitely would recommend them.

"Great tour with great driver and guide!"
We have just got back from this tour and we had a great time. Vusal, our guide and driver Imran were very welcoming and friendly and immediately made us feel relaxed and comfortable. They both have have great knowledge of Baku and Qobustan and were always showing us points of interest and giving us information about the local area along the way. The mud volcanos are very interesting. We had never seen anything like it before. A very unique landscape. The road to the volcanos can be a bit rough at times but our driver did a great job avoiding the worst parts. The Qobustan petroglyphs were very interesting and Vusal and Imran were excellent at pointing out the different drawings. The site was a lot bigger than I expected with so many drawings to see. Very interesting to imagine life there 10,000-15,000 B.C. The views from the petroglyphs site over the land and out to the Caspian sea are spectacular! A great day with great guides so would definitely recommend this tour!

  • "Beautiful place, beautiful people"
As a 20-something year old woman traveling alone, I'm always a bit hesitant when booking tours to remote areas. However, the guide (Vusal) and driver (Imran) on my Gobustan tour were delightful delightful people and made me feel very comfortable and safe from the beginning. They were very knowledgeable, lots of fun, and went out of their way to go the extra mile for me (giving me recommendations on what to do in Baku after the tour was over, curating the music selection to my taste, etc). I wish I had had more days in Baku to do more tours with them!

This tour was worth seeing for us. Vusul, our tour guide was very nice, friendly and knowledgeable. He gave his phone number to call him anytime if we needed help. The next day there was a mix up and and we couldn't find our tour guide. We called Vusul who contacted the office and got us on track again. Thank you Vusul.
